Dark Waters of Freeport

To Find a Lady

The heroes agree to his offer and find Roberts very forthcoming with answers to their questions. The kidnapping took place during the height of the riots. They came in through a second floor window while the guards protected the 1st floor. Since Lady Grossette pushed to have the Law of Succession repealed, any of the Dracs vying to be the next Sea Lord would like to see her dead, namely Andrea Blax or the half-orc Drak Sockit. Not to mention, any of the councilors with aspirations of being Sea Lord, perhaps Arias Soderheim. While examining the crime scene, a beggar sells them a vital clue. They discover elven pirates are behind this dastardly deed. Through the process of elimination, and help from the Beggar King, they determine it to be no other than the ruthless Captain Allethra Sharpe. Making haste to find a ship so they can give chase, they stumble across Buster Wallace. It appears he is making the rounds gently letting down his girlfriends for he has found his true love. Also, he has decided to resign his seat on the Captains Council and run the family business from Libertyville with his new bride to be, in order to escape the corruption of Freeport.

Together they sail toward Windward and into the oncoming squall. It seems the storm has stirred up more than just waves. Their ship is attacked by sea devils. Over twenty climb on board and several crew members die defending the ship before they are repelled. Then through the rain they see their prey. The pirate ship is anchored off shore from Felix’s resort. They can see signs of obvious fighting on the tiny island, but divinations lead them to “The Knife”. A lengthy fight ensues onboard the ship. Just as the heroes start to get the upper- hand a disheveled pirate opens a door to join the melee. Ray notices a young naked female in the room behind him. Then the entire ship quakes as a behemoth of a man stomps out from his cabin across the way. Could this be the end for our heroes????

I smell a TPK

To Find a Lady

Knives are slender, thin and deadly. Perhaps this man is named hilt? I’m not worried though, no one man can take down CRASH

As far as Osbourne is concerned it will be a TPK. He is the total of the party below deck all alone down the hall.

I can probably hold that hallway for hours. Save the Councilor and leave me behind. Just make sure you tell a story about me at every tavern.

There once was a gnome named Osbourne
Who sometimes was treated with scorn
he got stabbed on a boat
by a pirate cutthroat
and now crash can do nothing but mourn

I know I didn’t bring it up but Mark encopuraged me to let you know where Trista stands on recent events. When we encountered the “helpless girl” I repeatedly pointed out discrepancies in her story and her behavior. 1. She tried to kill the pirate I was interrogating, 2. She lied repeatedly about her internment and that she claimed to have witnessed the death of Lady Grossette, 3. She was not acting like she had been raped, 4. She was unconcerned about her nakedness, 5. When we got to shore she “convinced” Frank to leave the group, 6. When I confronted her at knife point, not only was I not able to stab her but she broke a grapple and dissappeared. The whole point of Trista is to glean inlformation and observe others so that we can stay a step ahead and use this information to our advantage. I don’t see any point in Trista remaining with the group. Her skills are not being utilized.

Why do you feel Trista’s skills are not being utilized? Because you did all that, we probably avoided some big trouble.

I’m at a loss for how people react after being raped so number 1 (anger over rape), 3, 4 (she ran away from men), and to some extent 5 (all she wanted to do was leave the island, but Frank started to travel around the building so no idea what was going on with that) all seemed non suspicious to me and just a reaction from stress (I mentioned insanity which from that table can manifest in many different ways). There’s no way to react to 6 since we don’t know where she is so for me number 2 was the only weird thing, but I thought you said it must have been some other woman she saw.

Despite all of that, I do think the group should have at least talked about it so to that extent yeah I think you’re being under utilized. I will try to be a better listener from now on. The rotating captains chair may help alleviate this since it imposes some time limits on discussions and a focus for the discussions when we start them up.
